Health insurance providers are well aware of this and want to encourage their policyholders to adopt a healthy lifestyle. A nice side effect is that policyholders stay healthy, which helps avoid the costs of future treatments. That’s why your health insurance provider offers you the opportunity to participate in so-called health programs—in the form of online or in-person courses—and covers up to 100% of the course costs.
Which health programs are subsidized?
Health insurance providers reimburse the costs of health and prevention courses only if certain criteria are met. The course provider must obtain certification under §20 SGB V to meet these criteria. Once a course has been successfully certified by the Central Prevention Assessment Office, it becomes eligible for reimbursement by the health insurance provider. Our online prevention courses are certified under Section 20 of the German Social Code, Book V (SGB V).

- Submit the certificate of participation to your health insurance provider
- Receive a reimbursement from your health insurance provider
If you book a certified course under §20 SGB V, you must pay the course fee in advance. This means that you register for the course and must pay upfront. After completing the course program, you’ll receive a certificate of participation containing all the important details about your course—course name, sessions, course fee, and everything your health insurance provider needs to know to process the reimbursement. Submit the certificate of participation to your health insurance provider, and you’ll be reimbursed 75 to 100% of the course fee.
How often is a course subsidized?
Statutory health insurance providers generally reimburse up to two prevention courses per insurance year. If you’re unsure, please check with your insurance provider in advance.
