As a company, we want to take responsibility. How do we do that? And where do we start? The BLACKROLL® brand was created with the clear goal of giving people simple ways to take care of their own well-being and health. We do this by manufacturing high-quality, durable, and easy-to-use products. By sharing our knowledge. Always driven by science and research.
We empower you. We’re here to motivate you. Because we want you to be able to lead a pain-free, active life. And as a company, we want to act responsibly in this endeavor. What does that mean?
It means that we want to use our various resources efficiently and respectfully—whether they are natural resources or the manpower we utilize within the company itself and in the manufacturing of our products.
It means that as a company, as a brand, and as individual employees, we want to question ourselves and challenge our plans.
From the very beginning, manufacturing multifunctional and durable products has been standard practice for us. Our goal is to create products that enhance human well-being and health awareness. But as we grow and learn each year, our standards rise. Inspired by global movements and numerous companies. Inspired by our inner drive to be a pioneer. We want to become the most responsible company we can be.
For us, responsibility also means being transparent about how we work at BLACKROLL®. By making responsible decisions and taking appropriate measures that demonstrate what we’re capable of. We then select our suppliers and seek sustainable partnerships.
We focus on three key areas:
Our Mission Regarding Responsibility
People come first. This is deeply rooted in our corporate purpose and drives us to live our valuesevery day. We are committed to people, their health, their development, and their quality of life.
The “People” dimension begins internally within our own team. We embody responsibility by fostering personal accountability and commitment to build a dedicated team—a team that enjoysbeing innovative, growing, and achieving great things. Our drive is reflected in the ambitious goals we pursue with high motivation.
But“People” also stands for the larger community of which we are a part. In our collaboration with trainers, customers, retail partners, suppliers, and scientific partners, openness and team spirit are at the heart of everything we do.
Through continuous exchange and collaborative learning, these values not only provide a foundation for our actions but also create an environment where innovative health solutions can emerge—for a future worth living for everyone.
As a company, we are fully committed to treating the environment responsibly. This includes continuously reducing our CO₂ emissions while using our resources more efficiently. We think and act with durability and minimalism in mind, because we want to grow without harming the environment.
Our path to reducing CO₂ emissions begins with production: Approximately 92% (based on sales volume, as of 2024) of our products are manufactured in Germany, which not only shortens transport distances but also significantly reduces our emissions. High-quality products help conserve resources and minimize waste. You can find more information about our product criteria here.
We’re particularly proud of our choice of materials. For our fascia tools, we use resource-efficient EPP, which offers stability and durability and helps us further reduce our carbon footprint. You can read here why we chose this plastic.
Our packaging is also consistently sustainable: it’s made from recycled materials and produced in a 100% climate-neutral manner. Whenever possible, we avoid single-use plastic.
To reduce our emissions even more effectively, we’re currently working with ClimatePartner, Greenly, and CO2-Positiv! on a comprehensive reduction strategy. Our goal is to become even more efficient across all areas and to measurably improve our carbon footprint. For emissions that can’t be avoided, we support certified climate protection projects. Learn more about our climate protection activities here.
We don’t just value quality and sustainability—they are our guiding principles.
Top performance means not only optimizing our products, but also shaping the entire value chain in a sustainable and responsible manner.
In doing so, we actively promote the valuesof the common good— human dignity, justice, environmental sustainability, and transparency— in our supply chain—because holistic success can only be achieved when these values are taken into account at every step.
This includes, for example, the introduction of a product scoring system. Through this system, we develop environmental criteria for evaluating our products in order to clearly assess their environmental impact and continuously improve it. After all, performing well as a company means more than just making a profit.
Through close partnerships with suppliers who share our values, we ensure that innovation goes hand in hand with social and environmental responsibility.
From physical therapy to elite sports, from science to
(sports) medicine. From the moment the first BLACKROLL® literally rolled out of our factory, we’ve been dedicated to optimizing performance and quality of life.
We’re here to be great.
17 Sustainable Development Goals
The balance between our three focus areas (People, Planet, Performance) is based on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These policy objectives are intended to ensure sustainable development worldwide on economic, social, and environmental levels. Specifically, our areas of action contribute to three of the 17 goals. These are:
Good Health and Well-being
The health and well-being of all people is BLACKROLL®’s top priority. Our goal is to empower people of all ages and fitness levels to move better and more, and to create space for relaxation.
Sustainable Consumption and Production
We hold our production processes and partners to the highest quality standards. In doing so, we consciously choose partnerships based near our home market and largest market, the EU. Since approximately 50% of our products are made from EPP (expanded polypropylene), we pay particular attention to minimizing the consumption of energy, water, and raw materials. Approximately 96% of our products (as of 2019) are manufactured in Germany.
Climate Protection Measures
We recognize climate change as a major environmental issue that can only be addressed and combated through solid cooperation and well-considered decisions. We are currently working with ClimatePartner to calculate our company- and product-related CO2 emissions. However, our goal is not only to calculate our carbon footprint but also to reduce or completely avoid CO2 emissions. And for all emissions that cannot currently be reduced or avoided, we take responsibility by providing financial support to internationally certified climate protection projects.
You never stop learning. That’s why we’re continuing on our path of innovation, drawing inspiration from these three global goals, in which we see our role and responsibility as a company. And: team work makes the dream work. We’d love to hear your ideas, suggestions, or questions.
