In Celebration of Earth Day

Which has a worse carbon footprint: 1 kilogram of avocados or 1 kilogram of pineapples? These are exactly the kinds of questions we asked our team as part of the “Time for Climate Action” campaign during our last Team Day. What does this have to do with environmental protection? Through various outdoor challenges, we raised our team’s awareness of climate neutrality. Following a plant-based scavenger hunt, we played a quiz game about the carbon footprint of food. The Moving Water Challenge was all about having fun and staying active while spilling as little water as possible: Water is a precious resource—we often take it for granted.

Of course, food is a must at our Team Day. Since we’re now more aware of which foods have a negative impact on the environment, our barbecue today is vegetarian and mostly vegan. Yes—plant-based burgers taste absolutely delicious. Oh, and to come back to the question at the beginning: By the way, with 0.9 kg per kilogram, the pineapple has a slightly worse carbon footprint than the avocado, which has 0.6 kg per kilogram.

There’s still room for improvement, for example, when it comes to how we get there. The excuse, “The Swiss forest cabin is hard to reach,” doesn’t cut it anymore. If Jonas—the smallest member of the BLACKROLL® team—can make it by bike, we adults can do it too. 😉

And now it’s your turn:
Find out here how you can do something for climate protection in just 5 minutes.
