Rising Star - How Liane Lippert follows her own path

She is Germany's great hope in women's cycling, rides for one of the best teams in the world, and juggles high-performance cycling with projects close to her heart. Liane Lippert is a professional through and through, finding new strength behind her vlog camera (for herself and others) between training sessions, mountain stages, and coffee breaks. In conversation with BLACKROLL®, she explains how she maintains her attention to detail amid the hustle and bustle of the international cycling scene and what her daily routines mean to her. In this portrait story, discover how she now lives her career in front of the camera and why she sometimes prefers to travel on foot.

From Seerose to Strade Bianche – Liane's path to the top

At the training camp in Spain, you can sense how much Liane Lippert has arrived in professional cycling – yet she never loses sight of the basics. She loves the dynamics of group training with her Spanish team Movistar Women, but also enjoys quiet solo rides: “I also like the difference between riding with a group and riding alone. Because it can be really nice to be on your own sometimes.” Starting at the Seerose club in Friedrichshafen, Liane's career has developed rapidly. She finished a strong third in the recent Tour of Flanders and has long been one of the best riders in world-class cycling.

A coffee-stop in Spain – Liane's everyday life away from the professional circus

In her private life, Liane has remained surprisingly down-to-earth. She commutes between her home on Lake Constance and Spain, where she spends most of the winter months. In order to stay focused on the racing highlights, she currently tries to travel as little as possible. When she does sit in the Spanish sun, she starts her day with a ritual: “After getting up, I get a coffee to go and go for a walk – then I do a little yoga session.”
The bicycle no longer has the same importance in her everyday life (due to her professional career): “Privately, I don't really ride my bike that much anymore – if I do, then in the summer with a proper city bike (laughs), where you don't have to check the wattage.” Instead, she goes running or walking – “because it's just a different kind of exercise.”

Between dream world and everyday life

After big wins, there's hardly any time to celebrate. “After successes like winning a stage of the Tour, you feel like you're in a dream world for a moment—but the next day, you have to get back to it.” The cycling season is fast-paced, with the next race already waiting. Conversely, she also sees opportunities in this: “You can quickly put bad races behind you – you get a new chance to prove yourself.” October brings the necessary distance: “Then you look back and realize everything that has happened.”

How BLACKROLL® supported her rehabilitation

After an injury, Liane learned to focus more on mobilization and prevention. Particularly helpful: the BLACKROLL® LOOP and SUPER BANDS as well as the MAT. “During the rehabilitation phase, I could only train without weights at first – the resistance bands were perfect for that.”
She also integrated BLACKROLL® products into her routine on a long-term basis – for Liane, it's more than just a supplement: it has become an integral part of staying healthy and performing well. During intense race days, the COMPRESSION BOOTS are a must-have for fresh legs after high levels of exertion.

Story Liane

Vlogging instead of power ratings – a second passion grows

In addition to cycling, Liane has discovered a new passion: vlogging. On YouTube, she takes her fans with her into her everyday life away from the race tracks. “Being in front of the camera is nothing new for me – I don't pretend to be someone else, I'm just myself.” This goes down well: “The first video got a lot of clicks right away – now it's like a second passion.”
Nevertheless, she remains realistic: “I actually want to film more during training camps and during the season – but it's more time-consuming than you might think.”

Outlook: A calendar full of classics

The coming season is jam-packed – with clear goals: “My big goals are the monuments of the season: Strade Bianche, Milan Sanremo, and the Ardennes classics.”
Added to that are all three Grand Tours—La Vuelta, Giro d'Italia, and Tour de France. And the World Championships? They have a very special meaning for Liane: “I still have a score to settle at the World Championships—I've already finished fourth twice.”
